Riders Rosary

The inspiration for this special Rosary are the stalwart motorcycle riders in our lives and the devotional focus in the centerpiece is Saint Christopher, patron saint of travelers, who we think reflects that loyalty, reliability, and strength. The black lava rock beads used for the Hail Mary beads in this Rosary are literally made from cooled down molten rock (also called Basalt, an igneous rock). In order for rock to melt, it has to reach temperatures as high as 1,000 degrees Celsius beneath a volcano. Lava rock is said to be a "grounding stone," a fitting choice for someone who's faith and service to others is solid and reliable. We chose orange for the mountain jade, used for the Our Father beads, to compliment the black lava stone - of course, black and orange are two of the primary Harley colors. We found it interesting that the Mandarin character for jade, yu, symbolises the linking of heaven and earth and jade is often referred to as a stone of heaven. The INRI, fleur de lis crucifix in this Rosary, is hand made of pewter and the centerpiece, also in pewter, offers a devotion to St. Christopher, with the engraved image of a biker on the front, along with the words "Saint Christopher, Pray for Us" and on the back, the image of St. Christopher with child representing Christ on his shoulders. Below the centerpiece, we have hung a Harley Davidson medal as a special tribute for your favorite rider. There are many motorcycle blessings and prayers, but this eloquent recasting of bible verses by Mad Mac, an avid motorcycle enthusiast, perhaps says it best! "Heavenly father, please bless this helmet of salvation, this body armor of God and these boots of the gospel. Let this windshield be a shield of faith and these handlebars be the sword of the Spirit. Let us ride in righteousness, strong in the Lord and in the power of God's might. Amen."
